1. Applied to an igneous intrusion that has been emplaced parallel with the structure (bedding, foliation, etc.) of the invaded country rock. Sills are examples of concordant intrusions. 2. Applied to a relationship in which adjacent strata are structurally concurrent with, or parallel to, each other. Compare DISCORDANT. Contrast CONFORMABLE. |
