chanda

chanda (Skt.; Pāli; desire, intention, motivation). A psychological faculty that motivates action. Depending on its object, chanda can be good, bad, or neutral (Pāli, dhamma-chanda, kāmacchanda, kattu-kamyatā), unlike craving (tṛṣṇā), which is invariably bad.
