bust·er / ˈbəstər/ • n. chiefly inf. 1. a person or thing that breaks, destroys, or overpowers something: [in comb.] the drug's reputation as a flu-buster. 2. inf. used as a mildly disrespectful or humorous form of address, esp. to a man or boy: your parents' decisions affect you, like it or not, buster.

Buster ♂ Mainly U.S.: originally a nickname from the slang term of address buster ‘smasher, breaker’, a derivative of the verb bust (altered form of burst). It was the nickname of the silent movie comedian Joseph Francis ‘Buster’ Keaton (1895–1966).
