babe / bāb/ • n. 1. chiefly poetic/lit. a baby: a babe in arms, less than twelve months old. ∎ fig. an innocent or helpless person: cable TV is no longer a babe in swaddling clothes. 2. inf. an affectionate form of address, typically for someone with whom one has a sexual or romantic relationship: I'm the golden boy, babe. ∎  a form of address for a young woman or girl (often considered sexist): oh, babe, waltz with me. ∎  a sexually attractive young woman or girl: he's been pumping up his pecs to impress the babes.
