arkose

arkose

arkose An arenaceous rock that contains quartz and 25 per cent or more of feldspar. The feldspar is easily destroyed during transportation or chemical change, and the implication is that arkoses were deposited rapidly under fairly arid environmental conditions. Most were also deposited near to land and probably in close proximity to a granitic area.
