adrenergic (ad-rĕ-ner-jik) adj. describing or relating to nerve fibres that release noradrenaline as a neurotransmitter. a. receptor (adrenoceptor) any of the receptors that are stimulated by noradrenaline and/or adrenaline, of which there are two types, alpha (α) and beta (β), each with subtypes (α1, α2, β1, and β2).
