Znojmo
Znojmo, Czech Republic Znoim, Znaim The meaning is disputed. It has been suggested that the name may come from the Old Czech noun znoj ‘Place where the Sun shines’, from the Old Czech verb znojiti ‘to be marshy’ or from the Old High German Cinahaima ‘Settlement next to a Gorge’. The former German Znaim was taken from the earlier Czech name.
