Žatec
Žatec, Czech Republic Zateč, Saaz Named after a local brook with the same name. This was derived possibly from the Old Czech zatkati ‘to block up’, a reference to the clogging of the brook with sediment. It has also been suggested that it is derived from the root žat ‘harvesting’. Žatec is the centre of the hop‐growing region for the beer industry.
