Wyndham ♂ Transferred use of the surname, which is derived from a contracted form of the name of Wymondham in Norfolk, originally named in Old English as the ‘homestead of Wigmund’. John Wyndham was the pseudonym of the British science-fiction writer John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris (1903–69), creator of The Midwich Cuckoos.

Wyndham, Western Australia/Australia Founded as a port for the Kimberley goldfield in 1885, it was named after Wyndham, the son of Sir Frederick Napier Broome (1842–96), governor of Western Australia (1883–91).
