United Reformed Church

United Reformed Church. The Church formed in 1972 by the union of the greater part of the Congregational Church of England and Wales with the Presbyterian Church of England. In 1981 most of the Disciples of Christ in Britain joined it; as some of these congregations were in Scotland, the Church took the name ‘United Reformed Church in the United Kingdom’.

United Reformed Church

United Reformed Church. The body formed by the union of the Congregational Church of England with the Presbyterian Church of England, which came into being in Oct. 1972. Negotiations with the Churches of Christ resulted in the majority of its churches joining the URC in 1981.
