United Nations General Assembly
United Nations General Assembly the chief deliberative body of the United Nations, in which all U.N. members are represented. Each country has one vote, and substantive matters are decided by a majority or by a two-thirds vote, depending on the importance of the question. The Assembly holds an executive position within the United Nations since it has deliberative, administrative, fiscal, and elective powers. Of most importance are the Assembly's deliberative activities, during which global conflicts may be addressed. Recommendations are passed but are not binding on members, and in general have had little effect on world politics.
