Thoracica

Thoracica (typical barnacles; subphylum Crustacea, class Cirripedia) The familiar barnacles, with a mantle usually covered with calcareous plates, and with six pairs of well-developed, thoracic feeding appendages (cirri). The group includes the suborders Lepadomorpha (stalked or pedunculate barnacles), Verrucomorpha (asymmetrical sessile barnacles), and Balanomorpha (symmetrical sessile barnacles).
