Golden Ass, The
Golden Ass, The, a satire by Apuleius. It takes the form of the supposed autobiography of the author, who is transformed into an ass by the mistake of the servant of an enchantress. He passes from master to master, observing the vices and follies of men, and finally recovers human form. The story includes a number of episodes of which the best known is the beautiful fable of Cupid and Psyche.
