Taejon

Taejŏn

Taejŏn (Daejeon), South Korea A metropolitan city lying on the Taejŏn River with a name meaning ‘Big Field’ from tae ‘great’ or ‘big’ and chŏn ‘field’. It was a temporary capital of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) during the Korean War (1950–3).
