A city in Silicon Valley , its many manufactures include semiconductors; machinery and instruments; electrical, electronic, and aerospace products; communications and medical equipment; and software. Sunnyvale's population increased significantly in the late 20th cent. |

Sunnyvale, USA California: settled as Murphy's Station in 1850 and renamed Encinal ‘Oak Grove’ from the Spanish encina. In 1912 it was incorporated and renamed again to describe its pleasant setting.
