Spoofing
Spoofing
1. Assuming the identity of an existing user in order to discover information associated with that user or information that the user is allowed to access: a technique used by CRACKERS. When the spoofing involves an INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS the process is known as IP SPOOFING. 2. A technique that reduces the transmission traffic through networks by having hardware such as BRIDGES and ROUTERS carry out some of the functions of a computer on the network. 3. A synonym for SPAMDEXING. |
