South Glamorgan
South Glamorgan County on the Bristol Channel, s Wales; the capital is Cardiff. South Glamorgan is divided into two districts – Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The Vale of Glamorgan is fertile agricultural land, and the major economic activity is dairy farming. Cardiff is an industrial district. Industries: engineering, steel. Area: 416sq km (161sq mi). Pop. (2000 est.) 450,400.

South Glamorgan , former county, S Wales. Created in the 1974 governmental reorganization of Wales from portions of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire, in the 1996 reorganization it was divided between the unitary authorities of Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan. |
