Channidae
Channidae (snakeheads; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A family of tropical, freshwater fish that have an elongated body, snake-like head, very long dorsal and anal fins, rounded tail and pectoral fins, no fin spines, and the lower jaw protruding beyond the upper. Accessory respiratory organs enable the fish to live out of water for some time. There are about 11 species, found in tropical Africa and southern Asia.
