Siwān

Siwān, Bihār/India Derived from the Sanskrit savayāna ‘bier’. According to local legend, Buddha's bier lay here for a while while en route to cremation. It is also claimed, however, that the town derives its name from Shiva, one of the principal Hindu gods, or Shiva Man, a thing whose descendants ruled this area before the Maghal dynasty.
