Septuagesima
Septuagesima. The third Sunday before Lent and hence the ninth Sunday before Easter. In the RC Church it was suppressed in 1969; it previously marked a stage towards the Lenten fast, with purple vestments being worn from that day until Holy Week. The name passed into the BCP but has been dropped in some modern Anglican liturgies.
