Scutum

Scu·tum / ˈsk(y)oōtəm/ Astron. a small constellation (the Shield) near the celestial equator, lying in the Milky Way between Aquila and Serpens. ∎  [as genitive] (Scu·ti / -ˌtī/ ) used with a preceding letter or numeral to designate a star in this constellation: the star Beta Scuti.

Scutum (abbr. Sct, gen. Scuti) The fifth-smallest constellation, lying in the equatorial region of the sky, representing a shield. Its brightest star, Alpha Scuti, is of magnitude 3.8. Delta Scuti is the prototype of a class of pulsating variables with small amplitudes, the Delta Scuti stars. M11 is the Wild Duck Cluster.
