Sāma Veda
Sāma Veda (Skt.). The Vedic collection of chants (sāman) used by the Udgātṛ priests in the sacrificial rites with the belief that proper tone and pitch gave creative power to the singer of the chant. All but seventy-five of the verses of the Sāma Veda are found in the Ṛg Veda.
