Salween
Salween (Nu Chiang or Nu Jiang in China; Mae Nam Khong in Burma and Thailand) River in Southeast Asia. It rises in the Tibetan Plateau, e Tibet, and flows s through Yünnan province, cutting deep gorges through the terrain. It empties into Burma's Gulf of Martaban, an inlet of the Andaman Sea. It forms many rapids along its course and despite its length of c.2800km (1750mi) is navigable for only 120km (75mi) upstream.
