St George's
St George's Capital and port on the sw coast of Grenada, West Indies. Founded in 1650 as a French settlement, it was capital (1885–1958) of the British Windward Islands. The town is built round a submerged volcanic crater that forms the horseshoe-shaped St George's Bay. Industries: rum distilling, sugar processing, tourism. Pop. (2002 est.) 4400.
