The flowers are regular, hermaphrodite, tetra- or pentamerous with a disc, and the ovary is usually superior and composed of several fused carpels. There are 161 genera, with about 1650 species, including the group which provides citrus fruits, occurring in tropical and warm temperate regions, and well represented in Australia and S. Africa.
