Rutaceae

Rutaceae A family of aromatic trees and shrubs which are sometimes thorny. The leaves are mostly compound, dotted with glands, aromatic when crushed, without stipules, and sometimes opposite. The flowers are regular, hermaphrodite, tetra- or pentamerous with a disc, and the ovary is usually superior and composed of several fused carpels. There are 161 genera, with about 1650 species, including the group which provides citrus fruits, occurring in tropical and warm temperate regions, and well represented in Australia and S. Africa.
