Rogers city (1990 pop. 24,692), Benton co., extreme NW Ark., in the Ozarks; inc. 1881. The city is located in a resort and fruit farm area. There is diversified manufacturing. The first Wal-Mart store opened there in 1962. |

Rog·ers1 / ˈräjərz/ a resort city in northwestern Arkansas, north of Fayetteville; pop. 38,829. Rog·ers2 , Fred McFeely (1928– ), US television actor. He created and starred in the television children's program “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood” 1967–2001. Rog·ers 3 , Ginger (1911–95), US actress and dancer; born Virginia Katherine McMath. She was the dancing partner of Fred Astaire in several musicals. She acted in Kitty Foyle (Academy Award, 1940). Rog·ers4 , Kenny (1938– ), US singer and actor; full name Kenneth Ray Rogers. His hits include “Lucille” (1977) and “We've Got Tonight” (1983). Rog·ers5 , Roy (1912–98), US actor and singer; born Leonard Franklin Slye. He starred in many “singing cowboy” westerns, with his horse Trigger and dog Bullet and, from 1944, with Dale Evans (1912–2001), whom he married in 1947. Rog·ers6 , Will (1879–1935), US humorist; full name William Penn Adair Rogers. He was a vaudeville headliner with his rope twirling and homespun humor. He died in a plane crash with aviator Wiley Post in Alaska. |
