Mus. influenced by It. avant-garde sch. of Berio, Maderna, Nono, etc. Books incl. Serial Composition (1966), Contemporary Percussion (1970), The New Music (1975). Comps. incl. Antigone, opera (1969); 2 syms. (1954, 1990); cl. conc. (1960); choral and vocal works; chamber mus.; pieces for guitar; and some comps. using elec./tape.
