Perugino, Pietro Vannucci

Perugino, Pietro Vannucci (1445–1523) Italian painter, an important figure in the art of the early Renaissance. He was a notable fresco painter. His Christ Delivering the Keys to St Peter, painted for the Sistine Chapel in Rome, did much to establish his reputation. He was also a skilled portraitist, and was well known for his altarpieces.

Perugino, Pietro Vannucci (c.1446–1523), Italian painter. In 1482 he painted the Delivery of the Keys to St Peter in the Sistine Chapel. The devotional warmth of his style created great demand for his religious pictures. His greatest work is the fresco of the Crucifixion in Sta. Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi at Florence (completed in 1499).
