capsicum

cap·si·cum / ˈkapsikəm/ • n. (pl. capsicums ) a tropical American pepper plant (genus Capsicum) of the nightshade family with fruits containing many seeds. Several species and varieties, in particular C. annuum var. annuum, the cultivated forms of which include sweet peppers and chili peppers.
