Pearl River
Pearl River, China, USA 1. China (Guangdong): also known as the Zhū River from zhū ‘pearl’.2. USA: besides cities in Louisiana and New York, the Pearl River flows through Louisiana and Mississippi. The Native American name was Tallahatchie which the French translated as ‘River of Pearls’ in recognition of the abundant, but worthless, pearls found on the river's banks.
