Paramount , city (1990 pop. 47,669), Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1957. Originally a dairy region, it has become highly industrialized since the 1950s. The growing city has industries that manufacture pipe, rolled copper and other metal products, lawn and garden tractors, aerospace parts, and ice-resurfacing machines.
