PIAT

PIAT

PIAT, or Projector Infantry Anti-Tank, a British hand-held spigot weapon which was developed by MD1 and went into production in mid-1942 (see Figure). It fired a shaped charge (see explosives) round with fins to stabilize it, and was effective up to 90 m. (100 yd.). See rocket weapons for other hand-held anti-tank weapons.
