Osborne judgment

Osborne judgment, 1909. Osborne, a Liberal, went to law to stop his union, the Railway Servants, contributing to the Labour Party. The case reached the House of Lords; their judgment was that unions could not use their funds to support a political party, a severe blow to the Labour Party.
