The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition , in the Bible, Jebusite who sold his threshing floor to David so that an altar might be erected there. This site, on Mt. Moriah, was afterward used for the Temple. An alternate form is Ornan. Read more

A Dictionary of the Bible ...strength did not get beyond this threshing floor. The greatly relieved king bought the premises as a suitable site for the future Temple (2 Chr. 3: 1 where Araunah is called Ornan), built by Solomon after a similar census which had no dire consequences. Read more
