Nueva San Salvador
Nueva San Salvador or Santa Tecla , city (1993 est. pop. 96,113), central El Salvador. It was founded in 1854 after the capital, San Salvador, was destroyed in an earthquake. San Salvador, 9 mi (14.5 km) away, was rebuilt, and Nueva San Salvador became a wealthy suburb. It is situated among coffee farms. |

Nueva San Salvador
Nueva San Salvador, El Salvador Nueva Ciudad de San Salvador Founded in 1854 as the ‘New City of the Holy Saviour’, it became the country's capital when nearby San Salvador was severely damaged by an earthquake. The capital returned to San Salvador in 1859 after it had been rebuilt.
