Nola
Nola , town (1991 pop. 32,613), in Campania, S Italy. It is an agricultural center with food-processing industries. An Etruscan stronghold as early as 500 BC, Nola flourished after passing (c.316 BC) to Rome and was an important center of early Christianity. Nearby are Roman ruins (an amphitheater and tombs) and an old cemetery where Christian martyrs are buried. Augustus died at Nola in AD 14. |

Nola, Italy, Central African Republic Italy (Campania): evolved from the Oscan Novla or Nuvla meaning ‘New (Town)’. It is, in fact, ancient, having passed to the Romans in 313 bc.
