Nikolayev
Nikolayev (Mykolayiv), Ukraine Olbia A province and a city‐port developed in 1788 from a fort built four years earlier near the ancient Greek city of Olbia with a name which, according to tradition, celebrates the Russian victory at Ochakov over the Ottoman Turks that year; this was achieved on the feast day of St Nicholas, 6 December.
