New Style date

New Style date (NS) The date of a historical or astronomical event on the Gregorian calendar, as distinct from dates on the Julian calendar which are known as Old Style (OS). Since the Gregorian calendar was introduced at different times in different countries, confusion can arise if the form of calendar being used is not specified.
