New Look a policy of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, consisting of four parts: reliance on the threat of massive nuclear retaliation to fight communism; liberation from communism for Eastern Europe; use of covert operations by the CIA in Third World countries; and the creation of non-communist alliances such as SEATO and NATO to surround the Soviet Union and China.
