Nebo
1. A mountain in the land of Moab which commanded a magnificent view over the Dead Sea and the Jordan valley from which Moses was allowed to observe Canaan at the time of his death (Deut. 32: 49).

2. A Babylonian god; the idol was carried in procession at the New Year festival and is the theme of Deutero-Isaiah's taunt (Isa. 46: 1). The god's name is incorporated into that of several Babylonian kings.

Nebo, Australia, Jordan, USA Jordan: a mountain whose local name is Jabal Nabā. It takes its name from Nabu, an Assyrian‐Babylonian advocate of writing and god of vegetation whose name means ‘speaking’.
