Field, Nathan
Field, Nathan (1587–1620), English actor and playwright, who was taken from St Paul's School to become a boy actor with the Children of the Chapel at the second Blackfriars Theatre, where he appeared in Cynthia's Revels (1600) and The Poetaster (1601), both by Jonson in whose Epicoene; or, The Silent Woman (1609) he was later to appear. He was an excellent actor, particularly admired in such parts as the title-role in Chapman's Bussy d' Ambois (c.1604), and in 1615 joined the King's Men, possibly in succession to Shakespeare. He wrote two plays, A Woman is a Weathercock (1609) and Amends for Ladies (1611), and collaborated in several works with Massinger and Fletcher.
