multicasting
multicasting A limited form of broadcasting where a network supports the sending of PACKETS to a subset of the computers on the network. Networks which support this form of data transmission organize the computers in the network into MULTICAST GROUPS which can all be addressed together and to which multicasting data can be sent.

multicasting
multicasting A transmission system in which messages are directed to a particular group of nodes on a network. It is thus intermediate between a transmission directed to a single address and one directed to all the addresses on a network (see broadcasting).
