Moose Jaw
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan/Canada The city is named after the Moose Jaw River and was founded in 1882. The name probably comes from moosgaw, a word for the warm breezes here; when pronounced in English the word sounded like Moose Jaw. It is unlikely that the name has anything to do with the shape of the jawbone of a moose.
