Montreuil
Montreuil , town (1990 pop. 95,038), Seine-Saint-Denis dept., N central France, a suburb of Paris. Long famous for its peaches and pears, Montreuil has a variety of light industries. It was founded before AD 1000. In the center of the town is the Church of SS. Peter and Paul (12th cent.), where Charles V was baptized. A nearby public park has a museum dedicated to the Socialist and workers' movements. |

Montreuil, France Île‐de‐France: to differentiate it from other towns with this name, the full name is Montreuil‐sous‐Bois ‘Montreuil‐by‐the‐Wood’. Montreuil itself comes from the Latin monasteriolum ‘little monastery’.
