Ticonderoga, USS
1. CV-14 a carrier commissioned in May 1944. After intensive training in the West Indies, the carrier loaded provisions, fuel, aviation gas, seventy-seven new planes, and the Marine Corps aviation and defense units to accompany them at San Diego, then departed for Pearl Harbor. The Ticonderoga made significant contributions in Pacific Theater battles against the Japanese during World War II. 2. CG-47 the first of the Ticonderoga-class cruisers, a U.S. Navy cruiser armed with the model 3 AEGIS weapons system, two MK 45 5”/54-caliber lightweight gun mounts, two MK 26 guided missile launchers, two Harpoon missile quad-canister launchers, two MK 32 MOD 14 torpedo tubes, one 15 MOD close-in weapons systems, one MK 36 MOD 2 super rapid-blooming off-board chaff system, and two 50-caliber machine guns. field artillery
field artillery artillery consisting of cannon, rocket, or surface-to-surface missile launchers that are sufficiently mobile to accompany fielded troops. Field artillery is divided into three groups based on the bore of ammunition. Light field artillery uses ammunition of 120 millimeters or less; medium uses 121–160 millimeters, and heavy artillery uses ammunition of 161–210 millimeters or greater.
