Master of Vyšší Brod

Master of Vyšší Brod (or of Hohenfurth). Bohemian painter, so called after his main work, a large altarpiece with scenes from the life of Christ (c.1350, NG, Prague) painted for the monastery of Vyšší Brod (Hohenfurth in German) in the Czech Republic. The anonymous master combined knowledge of Italian painting with Bohemian traditions to create the courtly style characteristic of Prague in the third quarter of the 15th century.
