Marks
Marks, Russia, USA Russia (Saratov): founded in 1767 as Baronsk, although the alternative name of Yekaterinstadt ‘Catherine's Town’ after Catherine II the Great† soon became popular. The city was given the German name of Markstadt ‘Marx's Town’ in 1920 after Karl Marx (1818–83), the German political theorist, economist and author of Das Kapital published in 1867. The name was shortened in 1941 and is spelt Marx in some atlases.

marks
marks Paul carries the marks of Jesus branded on his body (Gal. 6: 17) as a result of scourgings, and this was a means of sharing Christ's sufferings (Phil. 3: 10). In the vision of the end of the age in Rev. 19: 20 those who have the mark of the beast (the symbol of the Satanic Roman Empire and the priests of its imperial cult) on their foreheads or hands will perish but faithful Christians with no such marks will be admitted to reign with Christ (Rev. 20: 4).
