Maria Weston Chapman

Chapman, Maria Weston

Chapman, Maria Weston (1806–85), was associated with Garrison as treasurer of the Massachusetts Anti‐Slavery Society and as an editor of the Liberator. She wrote many abolitionist articles, and her Life of Harriet Martineau (1877) was the result of a long personal friendship. She sponsored the publication of The Liberty Bell (1839–58).
