Little Office of Our Lady

Little Office of Our Lady

Little Office of Our Lady. A brief office in honour of the BVM, modelled on the Divine Office. First known in the 10th cent., its use spread from the religious orders to the secular clergy. It became the ordinary form of vocal prayer for a number of new congregations of women. In 1953 a revision was approved; this introduced greater variety. See also PRIMER.
