Lake Poets

Lake Poets, Lake School, terms applied to Coleridge, Southey, Wordsworth, and sometimes to De Quincey, who lived in the Lake District. The expression ‘Lake School’ seems first to appear in the Edinburgh Review of August 1817. In his Recollections of the Lake Poets, De Quincey denies the existence of any such ‘school’.
